About Enrich Life Over 50

We have created a triad of words for growing older in America–active, engage and contribute. With 30 years added to longevity from beginning to end of the 20th century, these three words reflect the way an increasing number of 112M people 50 and older (50+) in America should think about the second half of their lives. Enrich Life Over 50, has been created as a Call to Action for this growing population segment, which owns or controls more than 70% of the country's total accumulated private wealth and accounts for more than 60% of the total annual consumer spending.

Active aging is more than continuing to be productively engaged in some form of work for pay  on a full-time, part-time, or project basis. Here are some of the paths that people 50+ can take in being actively engaged, both for their own benefit and to contribute to the larger world. The initial purpose of ELO50 is to create a national network of 27 Chapters in major cities throughout the country for a maximum of 75 people 50+ each to focus on the Seven Pillars of Aging Successfully™: active engagement, social connection, physical fitness, healthy diet, adequate sleep, financial management, and spiritual well-being.

There will be a paid Chapter Head for each group, with four meetings initially scheduled in April, June, September and November. The Chapter Head will be responsible for planning/organizing/chairing the four meetings; creating and managing a group limited to 75 members; helping to organize special-interest, self-managed groups on subjects selected by the members; creating and managing a website with access limited to members through user IDs and passwords; and organizing occasional workshops on topics of particular interest like life-management planning and how to create a new business.

These Chapters will be developed over a period of six years from 2019 through 2024, with regional meetings and regional/national events as the Chapters expand. The driving forces for this national network are:

  • Change the national mindset about people 50+ to recognize that a substantial majority have what we call DoubleESP™ (an acronym we have created and trademarked for Experience, Expertise, Seasoned judgment and Proven performance) and can continue to add value to themselves and to the larger world for many more years beyond a retirement age of 65 established 83 years ago and subsequently increased by only one year to date!
  • Change the mindset of people 50+, who have been conditioned to believe that they are over the hill and out of the game when they reach a certain age (pick 50, 55, 60, or 65).
  • Integrate people 50+ more effectively into the country's economic and social fabric.

The annual membership charge for each group will be $250 plus $150 if the spouse would also like to become a member.
